AMFREC is proud to have received commendation in the 2021 Derbyshire Historic Building Trust Awards for the Reuse of an Historic Building.

Our recent restoration projects include a diverse selection of antique chairs, each thoughtfully revived with luxurious velvet upholstery.

A classic English walnut lolling chair has received a fresh lease of life with raspberry velvet upholstery. In addition to the chair, a selection of raspberry velvet cushions are available in two different sizes, allowing for coordinated and comfortable interior accents.

The Edwardian chair has been beautifully reupholstered in luxurious hummingbird velvet, blending classic craftsmanship with vibrant fabric for a unique and stylish finish.

The French Voltaire chair has been revived using striking apple green velvet, making it an eye-catching addition to any space. To complement the chair, a range of apple green velvet cushions are also available, providing both elegance and comfort.

Restored English Upright Chairs
A series of English upright chairs have been carefully restored, showcasing traditional design and meticulous attention to detail.

This French Voltaire chair, upholstered in vibrant velvet, serves as a true statement piece, combining bold colour with timeless style.

We offer eclectic range of English and French chairs and stools, carefully up-cycled, marrying time-honoured craftsmanship whilst embracing modern environmental responsibility suited for the 21st century. Cushions are available to enhance both comfort and aesthetic appeal creating a welcoming and harmonious atmosphere.

ABOUT AMFREC

Amber Mill Furniture Rural Enterprise Centre (AMFREC) has restored a classic mill housing BeSeated’s studio at Toadhole Furnace, Oakerthorpe. This historic mill is located in Derbyshire only 10 minutes from M1’s J28, with frequent trains to and from London in just 2.5 hours.

HISTORY

Originally built by Daniel Hopkinson in 1817 as a Mustard Mill, this grade 2 listed building was the home from the 1920s onwards for The Amber Mill Furniture Manuf. Co. Ltd est. 1909. In January 1955 the mill was ravaged by fire.

Mr Reginald Turner M.D. and, son of Mr John Turner was quoted in one of the local papers as saying “it is a great blow to see a lifetime’s work destroyed in one night” nevertheless the company survived until the late 1980s.

At Amfrec BeSeated provides an exquisite selection of English and French chairs and stools lovingly collected and beautifully restored to meet the finest requirements of 21st Century homes.
